As Centers for Research on Creativity, we have more than our Topanga Canyon office, we also have a London office, and our co-founder there is Professor Dr. Anne Bamford.
Dr. Bamford is a much-acclaimed international researcher in the field of arts education, emerging literacies and visual communication. A UNESCO World Scholar, Anne has conducted national educational impact and evaluation studies for the governments of Denmark, The Netherlands, Belgium, Iceland, Hong Kong, Norway and Ireland. Her commitment to internationalism and global co-operation is further strengthened by the news that,
“We have received a couple of European Union grants, one looks at the role of arts and culture in making more peaceful and peace-loving children. We are hosting a major conference at the Nobel Villa in San Remo, Italy, probably in October 2018.”
Dr. Bamford is widely published, her successful 2006 book The Wow Factor: Global Research Compendium on the Impact of the Arts in Education will soon be joined by her new publication, The How Factor: Implementing Educational Change. She also is currently contributing a book chapter for a UNESCO publication expected next year.
Is exciting news for us to hear that, “I have started a project looking at a more culturally rich model of teacher education and using arts partnerships to boost the quality of teaching pedagogy.” We look forward to learning more and updating you further as the project takes shape.
As if this were not enough for one mortal to undertake, even one as talented as Dr. Bamford, we also learn that, “from October I also start a new job as Strategic Director of Education and Culture for London.” This is a significant role, which recognizes the importance of arts education in developing a creative and collaborative civil society.
